Library Day observance organised

Commemorating the 132nd birth anniversary of Padmashri SR Ranganathan (Father of library movement in India), State Central Library, Imphal and Manipur Library Association (MALA) jointly observed 'Library Day' at the Central Library auditorium, here, on Monday.
In a release, State Central Library informed that the observance was attended by retired Art & Culture commissioner K Radhakumar Singh and MALA president Rk Rameshwor Singh as chief guest and president respectively while retired Art & Culture director Dr K Sobita Devi and retired RIMS librarian (National Awardee) N Giridhari were present as guests of honour.
As a part of the observance, MUC librarian Th Khomdon and MALA ex-president L Sabita Devi deliberated on significance of observing Library Day while prizes for a spot painting competition conducted on August 11 in connection with 'Library Day' were distributed.
In Class III-V category, Seram Arithoi (Class V) of Sishu Nistha Niketan bagged the first prize, while S Purel Mangang (Class-IV) of St George High School and Kh Chandra Meitei (Class III) of Wangkhei High School won second and third prize respectively.
For Class V-VIII, Brikarma Lourembam (Class VIII) of Comprehensive School Oinam, Nongmaithem Korounganba (Class VIII) of Heritage Convent and Lenison RK (Class VIII) of St Arena of Learning wrested the first, second and third prize respectively.
