16 IPS officers sent to state to strengthen law and order

In a significant move to stabilise the situation in strife-hit Manipur, the Central Government has deputed a record 16 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from the 2024 batch to the state.
This marks the highest-ever single-year posting of IPS officers to Manipur.
The unprecedented deployment aims to bolster the state's administrative framework and enhance on-ground policing and intelligence coordination.
Manipur has been grappling with prolonged unrest in recent months, and the Centre's decision is seen as an effort to restore order and strengthen the state's law enforcement capabilities.
