RIMS gets MOT, Nd:YAG Laser Machine

Imphal, June 22 2025: A state-of-the-art Modular Operation Theatre (MOT) Complex and Nd:YAG Laser Machine has been inaugurated on Friday at the Department of Ophthalmology, of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.

In a release, RIMS informed that the facilities were formally activated by its director professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma, in the presence of medical superintendent professor N Sanjib Singh.

Speaking at the event, Prof Sunil expressed pride in inaugurating the MOT Complex and installing the Nd:YAG laser at RIMS, calling it a significant milestone for the institution.

As one of the first such setups in a government facility, the Modular OT will enhance surgical precision, reduce patient wait times, and improve overall care standards, he added.

The director also announced the upcoming launch of a dedicated eye bank and corneal transplantation programme by July or August and conveyed gratitude to all involved.

He also expressed hope that availability of the facilities would inspire students and residents to strive for clinical excellence and innovation.
