District Court, Kakching starts functioning

Kakching, April 17 2025: The newly built District Court Complex (DCC) at Kakching Chumnang Leikai started functioning with effect from Wednesday with Judicial Magistrate of First Class (JMFC), Kakching, Neera Sinam hearing 16 civil cases on first day.

It may be mentioned that the DCC was virtually inaugurated by Supreme Court of India Justice Vikram Nath on March 23 followed by High Court of Manipur Chief Justice D Krishna Kumar in the presence of Justices A Bimol and A Guneshwar Sharma announcing on April 5, after inspection of the infrastructure, that it will commence functioning from April 16.Welcoming activation of the DCC, district denizens and CSOs stated that it will reduce the money and time expended in visiting the Thoubal Court for case hearings and appealed to the government to address the needs of the Court including fencing and security, so it can properly function.
