1 Assam Rifles celebrates 175th raising day

The 175th raising day of 1 Assam Rifles was celebrated with great enthusiasm and community spirit at Sehlon, Chandel district, marking a significant milestone in the illustrious history of the 'Sentinels of the Northeast' .
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the day commenced with the ceremonial hoisting of the flag by commandant colonel Bharat Bhushan Sharma followed by a wreath-laying ceremony to honour the valiant 'Bravehearts' who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
The commandant interacted with the troops, congratulated them and inspired all ranks to keep the flag flying high at all times.
Veterans of the unit were also invited for tea and interaction, adding a touch of nostalgia and motivation marking the historic day, it stated.
The release continued that celebrations were also organised with locals of Sehlon village and leaders symbolising the strong bond between the AR and the local community.
Distinguished guests included KCA chief, KSO chief, Kuki youth president, women association president, Wayang Primary School principal, village chiefs, and the pastors, who joined the festivities to honour this momentous occasion.
The event aimed to foster unity, cultural exchange, and goodwill among the AR and the local populace.
Highlight of the celebration was the performances by the AR Jazz and Pipe Band along with cultural dances performed by local children.
To engage the community further, various fun-filled activities were organised for the locals, encouraging their enthusiastic participation, according to the PRO.
Speaking on the occasion, the commandant expressed his gratitude to the local community for their unwavering support and reaffirmed the commitment of AR to foster peace, development, and security in the region.
