Imphal, April 12 2025:
Manipur Drivers' Association (MDA) has provided financial assistance to Hemam Prem (34) son of Hemam Inaocha of Moirang Siribon Leikai, a driver injured in a road accident at Keithelmanbi Military Colony in Kangpokpi district on Friday around 3 pm.
An MDA team, led by president Saikhom Babudhon and assistant secretary Khundongbam Sangeetcharan, visited Prem at the JNIMS trauma centre on Saturday and handed over the aid to his family members.
Babudhon said the assistance was provided from the association's relief fund contributed by drivers at MDA offices located in Sekmai and Keithelmanbi.
He added that the association has been regularly extending support to drivers injured in road mishaps and to the families of deceased drivers.
However, he expressed concern over the rapidly depleting fund due to the continued closure of MDA offices at Sekmai and Keithelmanbi.
He urged the government to facilitate reopening of the offices so that the association can continue supporting the driver community in times of need.
