Imphal, April 11 2025: In a joint operation, Assam Rifles and New Keithelmanbi Police on Thursday seized approximately 68 tonnes of areca nuts in Hai-bung area under Kangpokpi district along the National Highway 37 .

According to a PRO IGAR (S) release, acting on specific intelligence, the security forces established a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) in Haibung area, where they stopped two Nagaland-registered trucks.

Upon inspection, it was discovered that the consignment was being transported without valid documentation, including the mandatory transit permits issued by the Forest Department.

The seized vehicles and areca nuts were handed over to the New Keithelmanbi Forest Beat under the Kangpokpi Forest Division for further investigation and legal proceedings, said the PRO .
