AR conducts cleanliness drive, medical camp

Assam Rifles helped villagers clean up clogged drainage systems, following recent heavy rains at Yangnomphai and New Lajang villages in Chandel district, followed by fogging of anti-mosquito spray in areas vulnerable to mosquito-borne diseases.
According to PRO IGAR (S), in addition to their hands-on support in clearing the drainage systems, the Assam Rifles distributed essential supplies and medicines to children and other villagers in need.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles organised a security meeting and medical camp at K Molnom village, Chandel district which had the participation of about 170 persons of four civil society organisations, representatives from local community of Kuki Chiefs' Association (KCA), Kuki Inpi Chandel (KIC), Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights (KWOHR) and Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) .
Apart from the security meeting, a medical camp was also organised at K Molnom for the villagers.
The camp offered comprehensive checkup and distribution of essential medicines to the locals.
A total of 71 patients (22 men, 31 women & 18 children) were examined, treated and further referred for various ailments.
Moreover, awareness on causes and prevention of dengue, malaria, diarrhoea and other seasonal ailments was explained, said the PRO on Friday.
