Wabagai paddy fields, fish farms flooded

Kakching, October 04 2024: Vast tract of paddy fields and fish farms in Wabagai Thingel Leikai Turen Mamei have been flooded due to overflowing of the Sengmai river following incessant rainfall in the past few days.

The embankment of Seng-mai river also breached at Wabagai Tera Urak, Wabagai Mairenbam, Sanalou, Tolongsoi and Keirak Awang thereby inundating around 200 acres of paddy fields as well as vegetable and fish farms.

As the said areas are facing flood situation for the fifth time this year, the affected farmers have appealed to the government to assess the situation and address their plight.

Meanwhile, repairing the breached embankment is has been taken up under the initiative of Wabagai MLA Dr U Deben, Keirak-Wabagai ZP member S Dhanabir and Administrative Committee Wabagai GP chairperson M Nabachandra.
