Students' Union making baseless claims: MBCTA

Imphal, August 01 2025: Maharaja Bodhchandra (MB) College Teachers' Association president Dr Th Roben has refuted the claims made by MB College Students' Union.

Addressing the media at the College, Palace Compound on Thursday, Dr Roben dismissed the allegations levelled by the Union as baseless.

He continued that the College principal and teachers have and would never reject any reasonable proposal from the students or sanctions.

Dr Roben opined that the students may be upset after they were denied Rs 2 lakh for external excursion; sanctioning only Rs 36,000 as per budget allocation for internal tour instead of the requested Rs 1.90 lakh; denial of Rs 3 lakh for repairing the toilets; denying Rs 1.331akh as funds for organising inter-college debate competition; and denial of Rs 1.76 lakh as funds for organising inter-college music festival when funds from the Social and Culture account was utilised for the Fresher's Meet.

The demands made by the Union are out of the fulfilling powers of the teachers of the College, he stated.

Dr Roben further said that some of the students in the Union have demanded for free admission quota.

The budget for the head of the Students' Union is Rs 3.30 lakh only.

Because of their exorbitant demands, even the teachers-in-charge of the Union has filed complaints to the higher authority for relieving as the in-charge.

Dr Roben then said that most of the office bearers of the Student's Union have passed the 6th Semester examinations and termed as unfortunate the student holding the post of the Union's general secretary is intimidating the teachers.

He continued that the students' actions are disrespectful to the teachers, while reiterating that all their claims in the media are false and baseless.
