Island VA clarifies on 'Champhai' tag

Imphal, October 31 2024: Island Village Authority (IVA) has clarified that Island village, located within the Island sub division of Kangpokpi district, is designated as PO Lamlong, PS Lamlai, Dag Village No 22/81, according to the 1963-64 Revenue Department records and it is officially recognised as 'Island village' .

In a release, IVA chairman Ramnganing Jajo informed that there have been inaccurate references to it (Island village) as 'Island Champhai' .

"We would like to clarify that no village by the name of Island Champhai exists under the jurisdiction of the Island sub-division of Kangpokpi district.

We urge everyone to refrain from using the term Island Champhai or any other incorrect designation.

Misuse of this name will be met with stern action.

This statement serves as a precautionary measure to prevent further misinformation," Jajo cautioned.
