Noney, November 26 2024:
The debris and boulders from the rockslide have been cleared as of Tuesday evening, allowing the passage of light vehicles though the said route remains inaccessible to heavy vehicles.
According to officials of Ganpati Company, a portion of unstable debris is still hanging, posing risk of collapse.
Clearance of this hazardous portion will resume on Wednesday at 5 am and is expected to take around five hours to complete.
Heavy vehicles may be able to pass through by Wednesday afternoon.
Over 300 vehicles, mostly loaded with essential commodities, and around 50 oil tankers are reportedly stranded at different locations on the NH-37, which connects Imphal to Silchar via Jiribam, due to the Nungdolan rockslide in Noney district.
