AR honours bravehearts at Shangshak village

Imphal, May 25 2024:
Assam Rifles on Saturday organised a wreath-laying ceremony at Shangshak village in Ukhrul district to honour the two bravehearts who laid down their lives in service of the nation on 25 May 2019 .
According to an IGAR (S) press release, on May 25, 2019, a column from Tobu Company Operating Base was detailed in Op Sunrise II .
The column was ambushed by hardcore insurgents in general area Ukha ridge of Mon district in Nagaland.
It retaliated and during the ensuing fire-fight, Nb Sub Dina Nath Ram and Rfn/GD Kalidas Sharma sustained severe injuries and later succumbed to their injuries, making the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
The solemn ceremony included wreath laying and a minute of silence to remember the duo's brave deeds.
The battalion also reached out to family members of the breavehearts on the occasion, and enquired about their wellbeing.
A representative from the unit visited the family members of the braVehearts and they were also presented with a small token of remembrance, the release further said.
