Drug abuse prevention programme held

The State Level Co-Ordinating Agency (SLCA), Manipur and Integrated Women and Children Development Centre (IW-CDC), Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai, in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) organised a one-day awareness programme on drug abuse prevention for community leaders at Loitang Khulen Youth Club on Saturday under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
According to a release issued by IWCDC, the programme was attended by dignitaries and resource persons from SLCA, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Imphal West, and other community leaders.
The programme focused on raising awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and its profound impact on individuals, families, children, and the wider community.
Subject experts elaborated on the physical, mental, and social consequences of substance abuse and emphasised the importance of preventive measures and community involvement.
As part of the initiative, a health camp was also organised to provide basic medical check-ups and consultations to the attendees, along with supplementary medicines.
Nearly 120 members, mostly women, attended the health camp and availed benefits.
