Naga Forum team meets displaced persons

Imphal, July 16 2025: A delegation of Imphal Naga Forum met persons displaced by the ethnic violence since May 2023 and currently taking shelter at Sajiwa and Sawombung relief camps in Imphal East on July 12 under the initiative of convener Ambition Anth and held in depth discussion on various challenges displaced people faced.

More than 720 displaced people are currently taking shelter at the two relief camps since the outbreak of the violence.

During the discussion, the forum realised that the displaced people have been reeling under immense difficulties in the relief camps.

Seeing no hope of immediate return to their respective homes in the near future, they have been languishing in the relief camps getting no respite from the multiple woes.

Some of them went out for work to earn wages during the daytime as the expense money given by the state government were too less and too little to meet their ends, the forum said.
