'Free Little Library' launched at JNIMS

On the occasion of National Library Day, 'Free Little Library', 'Take a Book', 'Leave a Book', library system was launched at the Central Library of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat on Tuesday.
The launch programme held at the Central Library B Hall was attended by JNIMS director professor L Usharani Devi as chief guest and chief librarian Dr S Sophiarani as president, while JNIMS Hospital medical superintendent professor Kh Lokeshwar Singh and Dental College principal professor Nidarsh D Hegde were guests of honour.
Speaking at the event, Dr Sophiarani highlighted that National Library Day is observed on the birth anniversary of Dr SR Ranganathan, the father of library movement in India.
She informed that under the 'Free Little Library' system, one must leave a book while borrowing or reading a book, thereby promoting the idea of knowledge sharing.
Meanwhile, a register documenting newspaper clippings on frontline workers, plight of patient and their families and activities of the hospital during Covid-19 pandemic was also released during the function.
