Thoubal, August 12 2024:
With residents of Charangpat Mamang Leikai unable to access potable water for the last 4 months following replacement of pipelines in the locality, meira paibis of Charangpat Mamang Leikai staged sit-in protest demanding restoration of water supply.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the sit-in organised jointly by Womens Welfare Association, and Village Water and Sanitation Committee, Charangpat Mamang Leikai, Welfare Association secretary Meisnam Manglembi lamented that pipeline replacement, which begun in April has left the locals without potable water as Sanitation Committee secretary Sagolsem Joychand disclosed that despite assurances to complete the pipeline replacement in 15 days, the same work has been stalled for four months.
Complaints to relevant authorities, including the SO and engineer, have yielded no action, he said and appealed for immediate completion of the work and restoration of water supply.
