AR holds security meet, provides 'power' point

Assam Rifles organised a security meet with 14 village chiefs of Dampi area in Churachandpur district on Friday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the security meet focussed on cooperation and coordination with the security forces, lauding public support in efforts of Assam Rifles to maintain peace and stability, steering youth to education, sports, societal development and strengthening patience in view of the tense security situation due to election results in Manipur.
The village committee shared their experiences, views and challenges faced due to the security situation in the region, as well as their ideas for organising sports activities in Dampi area.
The villagers expressed hope for an early resolution to the ongoing violence and the restoration of peace in the state, the PRO said in a release.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles established a mobile electricity point at Veitum Khullen village, Kangpokpi district on Friday for locals.
Electricity in the village was disrupted due to heavy rainfall and the villagers had approached the Assam Rifles to provide electricity supply for their basic requirements such as charging mobile phones, power banks and emergency lights.
The villagers appreciated the prompt response of Assam Rifles amid tough times, a release said.
On the other-hand, Assam Rifles distributed ceiling fans at Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai, Thoubal district on June 6 as requested by the locals of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai for assistance in combating heat.
The company operating base of Assam Rifles located at Lilong distributed ceiling fans to 27 community members.
