AR celebrates Sports Day, plants saplings

Assam Rifles celebrated National Sports Day at Assam Rifles Public School, Keithelmanbi Garrison in commemoration of Major Dhyan Chands 119th birth anniversary, famously known as "The Hockey Wizard of India" .
According to a release issued by PRO IGAR (S), as part of the observance and promoting the most ancient and popular sport of Polo, Assam Rifles Public School launched boys' Polo team featuring four dedicated students namely master Nishant Shah, Prashant Shah, Kar-tikeyan Bajpayee and Aditya Yadav, who have been rigorously training in Manipuri Polo, demonstrating a deep appreciation for this traditional sport.
The event which included an aerobic display witnessed an active participation from 382 students in various sports activities, promoting physical fitness and sportsmanship.
Similarly, in Chandel district, Assam Rifles celebrated the day by distributing sports equipment at Don Bosco School, Chandel Lamphou Pasana village.
The event highlighted the importance of sports in nurturing discipline, leadership, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy competition, the release added.
On the other hand, Assam Rifles organised a mass tree plantation drive in association with students and teachers of Assam Rifles Public School at Shangshak village in Ukhrul district during which a total of 2200 saplings were planted.
AR also assisted a victim of road traffic accident that occurred at Khongkhang village, Tengnoupal district on Wednesday by transporting the injured person to the Unit hospital and providing necessary treatments.
Another person from Thingkeu village, Churachandpur, who had lacerated wound over face and nose, was also provided medical treatment by medical team of Assam Rifles, according to the PRO.
