Imphal, July 29 2024: Indian Army conducted tree plantation drives to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti Mahotsav and in alignment with the ecological awareness under its 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, In a release, PRO Defence informed that tree plantation drive was organised at Leimakhong Military Station to enhance the greenery and biodiversity in the military station and its surrounding areas and to combat global warming.

Approximately 100 saplings of various kinds, including fruit-bearing trees, shady and ornamental trees were planted in the environmental park and Amrit Sarovar area.

The release also mentioned that another plantation drive was conducted from July 22 to 29 across Bishnupur district wherein a total of 1335 saplings were planted by Army personnel along with locals from Haotak, Saiton, Kumbi, Phougakchau, Torbung, and Ningthiching.
