Mayai Lambi road block stir suspended

Imphal, December 16 2024: The road-block agitation launched by Mayai Lambi Apunba Lup against the prolonged neglect of the dilapidated Mayai Lambi road has been withdrawn.

The Lup convened a meet on Monday evening and decided to call off the agitation after road construction materials were brought to the work site.

Earlier in the day, Mayai Lambi road was blocked at several locations like Sek-maijin, Mayang Imphal bazar, Thongkhong Laxmi bazar, Yumnam Huidrom, Samurou, Langthabal Phura Makhong and Langthabal Thong Ahanbi with the protesters stacking logs in the middle of the road to prevent vehicular movement with exception of those involved in essential services and religious activities.

Notably, executive engineer (PWD) NH-1 personally met the protestors on Sunday and assured to begin road development works at the earliest.

Accordingly, road construction materials started piling up on the roadsides from Monday at some locations.
