Boy killed in wall collapse in Ukhrul

In a tragic incident, a one-and-a-half-year-old boy lost his life after a retaining wall collapsed, causing a landslide that completely destroyed a neighbouring house at Ham leikhong Block 1 in Ukhrul town on Monday.
The tragic event occurred around 4pm when the boy was reportedly sleeping inside the house located on the south-west of the Ukhrul Mini Secretariat.
The deceased was one Chishin Lunghar, the only son of Hormi Lunghar of Tashar village.
According to sources, the ill-fated house was situated beneath a retaining wall belonging to incumbent Outer Manipur Member of Parliament (MP) Alfred Kanngam Arthur.
"We had reminded the owners of the wall several times that the wall was too high and that it could endanger our lives.
But they did not heed our plea," rued a member of the victim family.
