First conclave of Assam Rifles ex-servicemen held

Imphal, April 11 2025: The inaugural conclave of Assam Rifles Ex-Service-men Association (ARESA) was held on Thursday in Shillong, Meghalaya, marking a significant step in fostering deeper ties with its veteran community.

The event was aimed at strengthening coordination, gathering insights through direct interaction, and enhancing the accountability and effectiveness of ARESA, with a central focus on the welfare of Assam Rifles ex-servicemen (AR ESM) and their families, said a press release issued by PRO IGAR(S) .

Chaired by Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, director general, Assam Rifles, the conclave paid tribute to the enduring contributions of veterans and underscored their vital role in safeguarding national security.

In his keynote address, Lt Gen Lakhera emphasised the importance of continued engagement and welfare measures for retired personnel.

The conclave featured wide-ranging discussions on key areas including the dissemination of information on current policies, benefits, and the 2024-25 Annual General Body Meeting agenda.

It also focused on reviewing ARESA's organisational structure and functional effectiveness, with an emphasis on improving outreach to veterans and their dependents.

Participants addressed prevailing challenges faced by the ex-servicemen community and explored potential solutions.

Additionally, the conclave served as a forum for deliberating on various miscellaneous issues raised by attendees, with the objective of incorporating their feedback into actionable outcomes.

ARESA director remarked, "This conclave is a testament to our collective spirit and dedication.
