Red Shield GOC meets village chiefs

In an effort to strengthen community relations and promote local development, the Red Shield Division organised a meeting with 22 village chiefs from Leimakhong region with Red Shield Division GOC during which the general officer reaffirmed Army's commitment towards development in the region through various initiatives.
In a release, PRO Defence informed that the session provided an overview of the ongoing Operation Sadbhavana projects.
New initiatives focused on empowering women and youth were discussed, aimed at promoting skill development and economic opportunities.
The village chiefs were briefed on several development projects undertaken, notable among these are establishing bakery, cosmetic and bead jewellery units on a self-sustaining model.
Plans for construction of a technology park and career counselling for children was also discussed, added the PRO in a release, adding that efforts to secure a reliable and clean water supply and projects of dedicated bus service for school-going children and provision of eco-friendly e-rickshaws were also announced at the meet.
Aimed at promoting physical fitness and nurturing local talents in sports, plans for developing sports-related infrastructure were also discussed during the interaction, it said.
The release further conveyed that the GOC emphasised importance of working closely with local leadership to achieve sustainable progress, stating, "Our commitment is to collaborate with the village chiefs to foster improvements that benefit everyone" .
