PFA celebrates Animal Day, foundation day

As elsewhere in the world, People for Animals (PFA), Manipur celebrated the World Animal Day and its foundation day on Friday.
According to a release issued by PFA managing trustee L Biswajeet Meitei, as part of the celebration around 10 Monocled Cobras (Kharou) and two checkered keelbacks (labob) were released into the wild at different places under the jurisdiction of Central Forest Division.
Release of the Cobras and checkered keelbacks was overseen by Central Forest Division DFO N Ganesh and PFA Manipur chairperson Akoijam Prem.
Additionally, as part of the celebration, ponies and other cattle found loitering on the busy roads of Imphal were tagged with reflective collars for trial purposes.
The reflective collars were also handed over to Eastern Students' Club polo team and members of Khurai Polo Club.
The release further informed that the observance of World Animal Day across the globe is being registered on the celebration website.
One of the most joyful moments was the inclusion of Meetei Mayek on the World Animal Day logo by the global headquarters in UK, it added.
