MLA stresses MSME development

Imphal, August 01 2025: Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam has stressed the importance of prioritising Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector to boost the state's economy.

He was speaking at the valedictory function of a weeklong mobile food processing training programme held at Lilong Chajing Mairenthong community hall on Thursday.

The training was organised by Social Development Society (SDS), Khurkhul Awang Leikai, under the aegis of Directorate of Trade, Commerce and Industries.

The event was attended by DIC, Imphal West general manager Aheibam Loken, MLA Karam Shyam and OSD of Directorate of Trade, Commerce and Industries W Rojen as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

MLA Shyam noted that the development of the MSME sector could significantly uplift the state's economic condition.

Citing examples from developed nations, he pointed out that small-scale industries play a vital role in their economic growth.

He said the state is also focusing on the MSME sector, with both training initiatives and central government schemes implemented to support its development.

He further remarked that the mobile food processing training programme held in the state is part of this broader effort to promote entrepreneurship and self-reliance and urged the trainees to apply the skills and knowledge gained in practical ways by producing goods and starting their own ventures.

training programme be deemed truly effective.

Highlighting his personal commitment to promoting entrepreneurship, the MLA shared that he has extended financial assistance amounting to Rs 70 lakh to dedicated entrepreneurs, without charging any interest, to support those who are willing to work hard and succeed.

A total of 37 trainees who participated in the programme were awarded certificates and cash incentives during the function.
