RIMS inaugurates drinking water facility

Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, concluded its month-long Special Campaign 4.0, focused on institutionalising Swachhata (cleanliness) and reducing administrative backlog, with a closing ceremony held at the General OPD of RIMS Hospital on Thursday.
The campaign aimed at fostering cleanliness, order, and operational efficiency within the institute had active involvement from multiple departments.
In a statement RIMS media cell informed that a drinking water plant with a capacity of 500 litres per hour was inaugurated as part of the campaign's initiatives.
Refurbished from a decommissioned dialysis RO machine, the plant will supply water to patients and visitors, reducing reliance on plastic bottles within the hospital campus.
During the event, RIMS director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma highlighted the institution's commitment to achieving exemplary cleanliness standards and encouraged all staff to take responsibility for maintaining a clean and eco-friendly environment, highlighting RIMS' efforts to avoid plastic usage on campus.
To recognise exceptional efforts, the director awarded certificates and cash prizes to cleanest departments, hospital wards, and washrooms.
The department of microbiology, community medicine, and PMR were named the top three cleanest departments, while the ortho female ward, septic ward, and paediatric ward were awarded for cleanest hospital wards.
In the washroom category, the female surgery ward-II/III, nephro ward, and psychiatry ward received recognition.
The ceremony also celebrated winners of the Photography Contest 2024, in which Rajkumari Bushila Karta of Keishamthong Mathak, Kumar Nongthombam of Huikap Mayai Leikai, and Sanjenbam Salai of Kongpal Kongkham Leikai won the top three positions respectively.
Winners of the Idea-thon competition, which encouraged innovative solutions to enhance the hospital's environment and operations, were also honoured, as well as jury members who evaluated contest entries.
The programme was attended by RIMS deputy director (administration), faculty members, nursing staff, students, and officials from CRED & MSS.
