AR observes Jadonang Martyr's Day

Noney, August 29 2024: Assam Rifles on Thursday observed the 93rd Haipou Jadonang Martyr's Day in recognition of his contribution to India's freedom movement and his efforts in promoting social reforms.

The event was attended by 100 locals, including the executive members of Haipou Jadonang Malangmei Memorial Trust, Khoupum Area Village Authority Council, Rongmei Luphwam (women's civil organisation), Zeliangrong Students' Union Khoupum area, local village authorities and youth.

The commemoration commenced with a wreath-laying ceremony, after which the Noney Battalion commandant delivered a speech highlighting Haipou Jadonang's courageous resistance against the mighty British.

A documentary movie was also screened to foster a sense of patriotism within the community.

The event concluded with an interactive session with village authorities and leaders of CSOs, followed by light refreshments.
