AR observes World Hepatitis Day, aids snake bite victim

To commemorate World Hepatitis Day, Assam Rifles organised an interactive session, health check-up, and distribution of basic medicines for residents of IDP camp at Torbung village, Churachandpur district, on July 28.The interactive session, led by a team of healthcare professionals, educated the participants about the causes, symptoms, and risks associated with hepatitis.
The residents were also informed about the importance of vaccination, safe blood transfusion practices, and basic hygiene, said PRO IGAR (S) in a release, adding that a free health check-up was also conducted during which residents were screened for hepatitis and other health conditions, and basic medicines distributed to those in need.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles provided medical assistance to a snakebite victim, a resident of Thamnapokpi village, Bishnupur district on Sunday.
According to the PRO, one Ningthoujam Soro (55), was bitten by a snake on her left leg while working in the fields.
The patient reported mild pain and swelling to the Assam Rifles camp at Sendra village, where the medical team examined the injury site and immediately provided necessary medical care, stabilising her condition.
She was then referred to District Hospital, Bishnupur for a thorough analysis of the snake bite.
