Assam Rifles hosts Unity Cup football c'ship

The Unity Cup Football Championship organised by Assam Rifles brought together Kamjong community from October 21 to 25.The tournament held at Phaikoh village featured eight teams competing while celebrating unity between the Tangkhul Naga and Kuki communities along the Indo-Myanmar border.
Informing this, a statement issued by PRO, IGAR (S) said that the championship showcased thrilling matches across two pools, with teams delivering impressive performances throughout the knock-out rounds.
The grand finale had Kamjong United FC locking horns with Kamjong Veteran Club.
The match highlighted the skill of Kamjong United FC, whose star forward executed a remarkable bicycle kick to score.
The team ultimately triumphed with a decisive 3-0 victory.
Prior to the final match, a cultural programme took place, showcasing the local heritage through traditional dances and music.
Senior officials from Assam Rifles presented trophies and recognised outstanding players, with awards for Best Goalkeeper, Top Scorer, and Most Valuable Player Highlighting the individual talents on display.
In his closing remarks, the chief guest commended the resilience and unity of Kamjong community, while underscoring the Assam Rifles' commitment to fostering peace and harmony in the region.
