Imphal, May 26 2022:
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has demanded the government to conduct common entrance test (CET) for admission to Bachelor of Education (B Ed) and Master of Education (M Ed) courses.
Addressing a press meet at its Kwakeithel office here on Thursday, DESAM secretary (education and academic affairs) Thounaojam Somol said that government as well as private institutions are conducting the entrance test as per their convenience which it cannot accept.
Admission to institutes under the Manipur University will be done through a common entrance test conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) .
Likewise, the government should conduct a common entrance test for admission to these courses in the government or private institutes in the state, pointed out the secretary.
Somol stated that teachers are one of the most valued and important people and they are the shapers of the society, which is why they are provided necessary training.
Not having a common standard and entrance test for these courses could undermine quality of teachers in the society, he added.
