Red Shield GOC honours SSI achievers

Imphal, June 23 2025:
General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Red Shield Division and chairman of the Local Board of Administration, Maj Gen SS Kartikeya on Monday paid a visit to Sainik School, Imphal (SSI), felicitated six alumni of the School, who were recently enrolled as officers in the Army, and called upon the young cadets in attendance to join the Indian armed forces and commended SSI for its academic excellence and commitment to national service.
The GOC, accompanied by Priya Kartikeya, the chairperson of Family Welfare Organisation of the Division, also honoured four cadets, namely - Amom Ratneshwor Singh, Duke Rajkumar, Priya Molsom and KV Gouri Keerthi, who successfully completed the Everest Base Camp trek.
In addition, he conferred ranks upon newly appointed cadets during an investiture ceremony.
The visit also marked the inauguration of the school's newly set up digital classrooms by Priya Kartikeya, who presented cash prizes and merit cards to Class X and XII academic achievers.
The GOC, in his address to cadets and staff, praised the school for its consistent 100 per cent pass rate in board exams and its resilience in overcoming challenges.
He also highlighted the revival of cadet visits to the National Defence Academy's Passing-Out Parade, a tradition reinitiated in May 2025 after more than two decades.
Describing NDA as a gateway to a promising future, the general officer encouraged both boys and girls to join the Armed forces and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
He further emphasised the significance of the first batch of girl cadets graduating from the NDA, terming it a milestone in gender inclusion in military service.
Meanwhile, the SSI principal extended gratitude to the visiting dignitaries, describing the occasion as a source of great motivation for the entire school community.
