Thoubal, July 21 2025:
Owing to restrictions on entry, into hospital premises, surgical items including IV sets provided at free of cost by Thoubal District Hospital Patient Attendants' Welfare Association to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) and emergency patients at Thoubal District Hospital, will now be distributed through the hospital's nursing staff.
Addressing media persons at Thoubal DC office complex on Monday, president Oinam Sanamacha stated that the Association was established on July 16, 2025 , with the approval of District Hospital's medical superintendent Dr W Ruhinikumar.
He said the association, formed to support the welfare of patients, has provided assistance to over 40,000 patients in a short span of time.
However, an order issued by the hospital administration on Monday restricted the entry of non-hospital personnel.
In compliance with the directive, the association has decided to hand over the surgical materials to patients via the hospital's nursing staff.
Sanamacha appealed to all patients and attendants to collect such items directly from the nurses on duty and also urged patients to exercise caution while receiving medicines from runners or unauthorised individuals.
To safeguard patient welfare, the association will begin monitoring unauthorised entries into the hospital and process legal action against those found violating hospital protocols, he added.
