PRO refutes report on farmland

Imphal, June 20 2024: PRO Defence has refuted news reports regarding Kuki seizing and cultivating Meetei fields as factually incorrect.

In a release, the PRO dismissed as baseless reports alleging restrictions imposed by central security forces resulted in agricultural land in Ngangkhalawai left unattended and Kukis allowed to do farming in fields owned by Meeteis.

All security forces in Manipur are operating under a given mandate.

Wherein, agricultural land-related matters are handled by civil administration and movement of personnel for farming is being ensured by CAPF, as agreed upon by civil administration, it added.

The release continued that the Army is neither responsible for it nor has ever stopped any farmer of any community from working in their fields, maintaining an absolute neutral and non-partisan conduct in all its operations and activities working towards ensuring peace and.
