Imphal, March 06 2025: Denouncing the crackdown on village volunteers by security forces, Apunba Nupi Khunnai Lamjing Meira Lup (ANKLML), Imphal East Yairipok-I staged a sit-in protest at Yairipok Top-Chingtha Mathak Leikai Community Hall today.

Speaking on the sideline of the protest, ANKLML Imphal East Yairipok-I secretary Konthoujam Sanayai strongly condemned the arrests and detention of village volunteers by security forces.

She asserted that the village volunteers were compelled to take up arms after Kuki terrorists launched a deadly aggression, slaughtered many innocent people and burnt down thousands of houses.

She asserted that the inability of Central and State forces to safeguard lives and properties led to a breakdown in trust, forcing hundreds of youth to take up arms in self-defense.

Questioning the logic of pulling up village volunteers who were only defending innocent and helpless villagers, Konthoujam Sanayai appealed to the authorities concerned to cease all attempts to arrest the village volunteers.
