Don't burden villagers with fund drive: ICSA

Bishnupur, June 03 2024: Irengbam Cultural and Sports Association (ICSA) has appealed for halting fund drive activities in Irengbam village under Oinam assembly constituency as it is becoming burdensome to villagers who are already facing economic hardship due to the ongoing conflict.

Addressing a press meet at its Irengbam Kangjeibung office on Monday, ICSA vice president I Joykumar said the village came under multiple attacks by armed Kukis due to its location close to the hills.

He urged all organisations working to uphold integrity of Manipur to cease seeking donations from the villagers at least for some time as majority of the population belong to the weaker sections of the society.

Joykumar also pointed out that the village has been extending whatever support it can in connection with the present crisis and will continue to do so in future.

The press meet was also attended by ICSA president, secretary, treasurer and other office bearers.
