Bishnupur, October 01 2024:
LDA Workers and Employees' Union has threatened to launch ceasework strike if service period of retired LDA director L Bhagaton Singh is extended.
A sit-in protest was staged by LDA employees at its Toupokpi office on Tuesday against the state government's alleged move to extend the service of L Bhagaton.
Speaking to reporters, Union secretary P Shyamkumar accused Bhagaton, who has held the position for over ten years, of never prioritising welfare of the employees.
Shyamkumar contended that Bhagaton is unfit to continue in the post of director, pointing out that it is unacceptable to maintain only 84 positions when there are actually 343 sanctioned posts in LDA.
He also charged Bhagaton of undermining LDA and announced that cease work agitation would be launched from October 4 if the government does not intervene and address the union's demands.
