Imphal, October 31 2024:
People for Animals (PFA) presented two specially-designed bird bracelets and 20 coffee mugs to chief conservator of forests (Wildlife) L Joykumar and Tamenglong divisional forest officer Kh Hitler as gifts for the Amur Falcon Festival.
According to a statement, PFA managing trustee L Biswa-jeet Meitei informed that the gifts were offered as a welcoming gesture for the Amur Falcons, which have arrived in the state, coinciding with the Ningol Chakkouba, Chaga Gadi, Chaga Ngee, and Lamsimngyi festivals, all celebrating the bonds of love between siblings, and parents and children.
The statement further highlighted that the two bracelets will be attached to two female Amur Falcons, who migrate to the region each year during this festive season.
The falcons are symbolically considered as daughters of the state, returning to their parental homes for Ningol Chakkouba, where they are presented gifts by family members.
Both the bracelets and mugs are custom-designed, featuring the PFA name.
The two falcons have been named 'Laisana' and 'Riangsuanei' .
The mugs, adorned with illustrations of the Amur Falcon by cartoonist and naturalist Rohan Chakrabarty, will be distributed as gifts for the Amur Falcon Festival.
