AR seizes WY tablets, conducts internal security exercise

Imphal, April 30 2025:
Assam Rifles on Tuesday seized 3 lakh tablets of banned WY drugs, Rs 2.6 lakh in unaccounted cash, and apprehended two individuals during a coordinated operation at T Bongmol, New Songyang axis and Yangoubung in Chandel district.
According to PRO IGAR (S), acting on intelligence regarding movement of suspicious vehicles from Moreh towards Churachandpur, Assam rifles established multiple MVCPs at T Bongmol Junction, New Songyang axis and Yangoubung.
Two vehicles were intercepted at Yangoubung PVCP and upon inspection Rs 2.6 lakh in unaccounted cash were recovered.
Both vehicles were taken to Moreh police station for further investigation, where 30 packets (3 lakh tablets) of banned WY drugs worth Rs 9 crore were recovered.
Two individuals were apprehended along with the two vehicles- Bolero (AS 32/9471) and Hyundai Creta (DL 5N 2021), banned drugs and cash, with the same handed over to Moreh police station for further legal action, the PRO informed.
On the other hand, Assam Rifles in coordination with Border Security Force (BSF), Rapid Action Force (RAF) and the local police, conducted a Joint Internal Security Exercise in Moreh, Tengnoupal district on Wednesday.
The exercise aims to validate the coordination, preparedness and response mechanisms of security forces (SF) to effectively manage an internal security situation in the region, the PRO informed.
The exercise assessed the response to various contingencies, including mob control, medical emergencies, arson by miscreants, armed miscreant activity and interference from violent cadres, the PRO further informed, adding, a total of 120 personnel from BSF, 40 from RAF, 150 from Assam Rifles and 10 local police personnel participated in the exercise.
