Rhythms of Manipur releases 'Kwakta Lamjel'

Imphal, November 26 2024: Rhythms of Manipur's latest music composition entitled 'Kwakta Lamjel' premiered at the Golden Jubilee Stage of the Manipuri Jagoi Marup, Lamboi Khongnangkhong on Tuesday.

As per a release, SPIC MACAY Manipur Chapter president Dr Wahengbam Ibomcha Singh attended the premiere event as chief guest.

The musical number is composed by Haobam Nisheshwor Singh and involves 11 artistes including five female musicians, it added.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr W Ibomcha expressed concern over plight of the artistes of the state.

The state government's support through the CMAT is simply nominal and cannot carry on artistic activities in proper way.

In this time of crisis the poor artistes are among the worst-affected section of the society, he noted.

It may be mentioned that the group established in 1985 has produced a number of music compositions, opera and plays.

'The Journey and Dancing Drummers' won Doordarshan national awards in music category and the group has performed at home and abroad, the release said.
