AR promotes youth engagement through sports

Imphal, September 25 2024:
Assam Rifles organised friendly volleyball matches at Lilong on September 22 and at Waikhong, Kakching district on Tuesday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that these events were aimed at fostering stronger bond and mutual trust between the locals and the security forces while encouraging participation of youth in sports.
At Lilong, a match was played between the team of Manipur University students and troops of AR stationed at Lilong.
The event saw participation of 57 members from village authorities, youth committees, and students.
The games were played with great enthusiasm, showcasing true sportsmanship, and both the winning and runner-up teams were felicitated with tokens of appreciation, it added.
The release continued that at Waikhong, the friendly volleyball match was organised with Tokpaching Youth Club to motivate the focal youth towards proactive physical fitness and sportsmanship.
A total of 18 youth participated in the match, which provided them with an opportunity to showcase their talent.
The participants were also briefed on the sports culture in India and the various opportunities available in today's environment across different sports genres, it further mentioned.
