AMESCO cancels Ningol Chakkouba this year

Imphal, October 24 2024: While wishing mothers, sisters and women of Manipur on the arrival of Ningol Chakkouba, All Manipur Ethnical Socio Cultural Organisation (AMESCO) announced that it will not celebrate 'Ningol Chakkouba' this year.

In a release, AMESCO publicity secretary Deepu Wangkhem stated that it has been celebrating Ningol Chakkouba every year since 1993 .

Pointing out that Manipur is facing second seven years devastation since May 3, 2023, he questioned what the government will present as gift to the sisters and women whose eyes never run dry from tears.

Will the mere compensation and temporary fabricated houses make them smile like they used to, he posed.

Reaffirming commitment to communal harmony and unity, Deepu said AMESCO paid respect to all those who sacrificed their lives for Manipur.

He also conveyed heartfelt wish to sisters and mothers, on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
