Saplings planted under AMRUT Mitra

Bishnupur, June 23 2025: A tree plantation drive under the AMRUT Mitra funding scheme was conducted by Nambol Municipal Council on Monday at Kabowakching, under the aegis of Town Planning Department and Manipur Urban Development Agency.

Town Planning Department chief town planner Nongthombam Benju Singh, associate town planner Mais-nam Manas Singh, Nambol Municipal Council caretaker chairperson Ch Basanta Singh, senior chief executive officer Th Rabindra Singh, Ward no 12 caretaker councillor Shija Kunjeshwari and Ward no 1 caretaker councillor P Aruna along with the members of Kabowakchingi SHG Group 3 planted around 200 tree saplings on the occasion.

Speaking on the sidelines, Benju pointed out that the trees were strategically planted around selected large ponds to help improve the environment and preserve clean water sources.

He added that funds from the Ministry will be utilised by the self-help groups (SHGs) to nurture the saplings and enhance the ecological condition of the surrounding areas.

He further stated that similar plantation drives would be conducted in other parts of the state in the coming days.
