Imphal, June 20 2024:
A joint team of Maring Uparup Assembly (MUA) and Rilram Area Maring Organisation (RAMO) visited the border areas between India-Myanmar border pillar number 82 and 89 on Tuesday and Wednesday to assess the presence of Myanmarese refugees taking shelter there.
During their visit, the team found government officials recording biometric details of the Myanmarese refugees under the instruction of Tengnoupal DC Krishna Kumar.
Appreciating the initiative, the two organisations urged the state government to expedite the biometric capturing operation and cover the entire border areas as well as interior villages to ensure full coverage of all refugees.
On the other hand, the two organisations drew attention of the government to poor connectivity in the border area where roads are almost irtaccessible during the monsoon season.
