Thoubal DC inspects flood affected areas

Thoubal, August 11 2024: Thoubal deputy commissioner (DC) Ahanthem Subhash visited flood-affected areas of Khangabok Sanilou Leikai.

The flooding has been a persistent issue due to blockage of the drainage system caused by road expansion work on Asian Highway No 1 being executed by Green Infra Project Ltd under NHIDCL.

After the inspection, DC Subhash told reporters that the frequent flooding is primarily due to the comparatively low ground level from the surrounding area and absence of drainage system linking the same to the highway canal.

However, since some residents have offered land space, the district administration will soon initiate construction of drains under the MGNREGS or MI scheme.

The DC was also accompanied by Khangabok Administrative Committee Zilla Parishad member, Gram Panchayat Administrative Committee chairperson and volunteers of local clubs during the inspection visit.
