LDA Union calls off cease work strike

The cease-work strike launched by Loktak Development Authority Workers and Employees' Union from October 4 has been called off following assurances by LDA chairman M Asinikumar that the union s demands will be honoured.
Speaking to newspersons at its Toupokpi office on Sunday, Union secretary P Shy-amkumar Singh informed that decision to end the strike was taken considering the chairman's assurance and commitment to address their grievances.
Stating that the union members have firm resolve to contribute their mite in maintaining the ecological balance of the freshwater lake, he said it will continue to exert pressure to authorities concerned to promptly translate the assurances into action.
The press conference was also attended by Union president Th Ibomcha and working president Kh Ranjit.
