Mutual respect, support key to development: Sanajaoba

Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba emphasised the importance of mutual respect and support for societal development, and urged the public to abandon the tendency of pulling others down.
He made the remark during an award presentation and felicitation ceremony held Friday at Loktak Hall, Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
The event was jointly organised by Bahujana Sahitya Akademi (BSA), Celine Digital Imphal, Veyil Foundation Bengaluru, and Ghyanratana Sahitya Akademi, to honour individuals for their contributions in various sectors.
Altogether 22 individuals were honoured by presenting awards for their notable contributions across different sectors.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Sanajaoba pointed out that Manipur is home to many highly talented individuals.
He urged the public to extend their support to these individuals, saying that encouraging them in their work will motivate them to continue their efforts for the betterment of society.
Mutual respect, understanding, and support are essential for fostering growth and development, he added.
Sanajaoba also expressed disappointment over the exclusion of the Manipuri language from the recent list of Classical Languages accorded status by the Union cabinet: Manipuri is not inferior to any of the five languages granted Classical Language status, he remarked, assuring that he will continue his efforts to secure the same recognition for Manipuri language during his tenure.
Celine Digital president Dr Phanjoubam Lanajit presided over the event, while Manipur University of Culture vice-chancellor Prof Paonam Gunindro and JNIMS Urologist Prof Dr Sholay Kangjam were guests of honour.
