Imphal, March 04 2025: In a major blow to the drug cartel and the perpetrators of drug business, Assam Rifles on Monday seized drugs worth about Rs 15.4 crore at Thingkangphai village in Churachandpur district.

According to PRO IGAR (S), based on specific inputs regarding presence of a drug ring in Thingkangphai village, Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) launched an operation to apprehend the drug dealers and seize the drugs.

Late night on Monday, Assam Rifles caught red-handed one Thangsuanman (44 years), resident of M Tanglian village, a suspected drug dealer who was trying to close a drug deal in a white Mahindra Bolero vehicle.

On searching the vehicle, approximately 1518 gm of suspected heroin estimated to worth Rs 15.4 crore was found concealed in 132 soap cases, the PRO informed, adding, the apprehended individual along with the seized vehicle and drugs have been handed over to Churachandpur police station for further investigations.
