Mao-Poumai church observes Green Sunday

Mao-Poumai Baptist Church, Langol on Sunday joined the world in observing 'Green Sunday' with the theme 'Caring the Creations of God' in line with the World Environment Day on June 5 .
As per a release, Mao-Poumai Baptist Church, Langol conveyed that all the church members wore green dresses to mark the event as children participated in a green parade with placards and festoons like 'Cut the greed not the green', 'Plant more trees', 'Stop burning the jungle', 'Stop deforestation', 'Stop killing birds and animals', 'Stop poisoning the rivers', 'Promote green and environment', 'Love and live friendly with the nature', 'Take care of the mother, the only planet where we live together', 'Let us make Manipur cleaner, greener and a peaceful place', 'Let us make our world a better place to live in,' etc.
Church pastor reverend L Simon Raomai challenged the congregation on the topic 'Christian response to ecological crisis' and Gideons International field consultant P Graceson Ramungna spoke on the topic Stewardship of God's creation' in the morning and evening service respectively, it added.
The release further mentioned that a painting competition also was organised in connection with the Green Sunday celebration on the theme 'The impact of climate change and global warming' .
The church also resolved and pledged to plant one tree each by every member to promote green environment with the launching of the EcoCare Organisation (ECO) under the church in order to advocate environmental issues, it said.
