Imphal, July 30 2024:
Manipur Naga Youth Organisation, Headquarters (MNYO-HQ) has submitted a representation to Handlooms & Textiles director on Monday demanding extension of the last date for submission and issuance of application forms for Marketing Incentive under National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP) for 2024-25 by one month in respect of hill populace.
In a release, MNYO-HQ referred to the Directorate of Handlooms & Textiles, Manipur issuing notice inviting applications from interested corporations, apex societies, and primary handloom weavers' cooperative societies for provision of Marketing Incentive under NHDP for the year 2024-25, on June 10 and submission of the same within July 31.The government is aware of the present situation in Manipur and the inconveniences faced in the hill areas due to non-availability of newspapers, unreliable news channels, internet facilities, electricity, road communications, and irregular government office operations.
Additionally, the distances between villages and district/sub-divisional offices are afar, it pointed out.
"In light of these challenges, we earnestly request that the Directorate of Handlooms & Textiles, Manipur extend the last date for submission and issuance of application forms by one month in respect of the hill populace," it said.
MNYO further observed that, any timeframed government processes/works need to be given extra time period for the hill people, as the government cannot treat the issues of the valley and hill regions the same due to their different problems and inconveniences.
Most of the hill people have lost the opportunity to apply for various schemes due to insufficient time.
Therefore, extending the deadline will help ensure that the hill populace has a fair opportunity to avail social facilities and benefits, it stressed.
